La pellicola di Bill Condon, liberamente tratta dal romanzo di Mitch Cullins A slight trick of the mind (Un sottile trucco della mente), ha come protagonista un anziano Sherlock Holmes, impegnato a risolvere il suo ultimo caso.
Con McKellen, completano il cast Colin Starkey, Laura Linney, Hattie Morahan, Hiroyuki Sanada, Patrick Kennedy, Roger Allam, Phil Davis, Frances de la Tour, Milo Parker, Nicholas Rowe. Il film arriverà nei cinema inglesi ed irlandesi il prossimo 19 giugno, mentre non è stata ancora fissata una data d’uscita italiana.
